Mirrored Ponds – Hoda Jazayeri
The woman is sitting alone, looking into the mirror. The mirror trans-
forms into a pond in a garden full of mirrors. Fish are looking for the sun so they flutter and transform into birds. Small mosses transform
into the trees of the garden. Searchingly, she transforms into a fish
and enters the mirrored garden.

The category of Other is as original as consciousness itself. No group defines itself as one without defining the other. Humanity is male. Woman is defined in relation to man, as a relative being. She is determined and differentiated in relation to man, while he is not in relation to her; she is inessential in front of the Essential. He is the subject; he is Absolute. She is the Other.
